There’s a common theme to whatever we do with the machines we install to produce nonwovens ; we survey what is generally available on the marketplace, add our own touch, and improve on it. A large number of the lines we have in place reflect this approach of jointly improving existing technologies, or even creating new ones together with the line manufacturers.
Our footprints…
• We were the first Company to use Thibeau cards, which have demonstrably prolonged the useful lifetime of the carded nonwovens sector.
• We were the first Company to commercialize Ason Neumag spunbonded technology in hygiene applications.
• We are the only Company worldwide capable of producing a spandex elastomer with non-detectable levels of residual solvent.
• We have broad experience in spinning our bilobal ‘Papillon’ filaments,
allowing for excellent tensiles and coverage at very low basis weights.
Latest news:
• We added a large scale spunbond- pulp- carding line at Aschersleben Germany, continuing the tradition of offering unique and proprietary technology to the hygiene market. It’s a new spunlace generation offering flexibility in designing the different components of the line. Unlike traditional spunlace products, which are weak in cross direction, leading to breakages, this SPC technology engineers a substrate that is much stronger. With this line, we can customize as much as we want, with hydroembossing, heat embossing and coloring of the nonwoven.
• In the first half of 2008, we will commission the world’s largest bicomponent SMS line in our German site, 7 meters wide. The line is based on Albis-Neumag technology and will make products with very low basis weights, well below 15 gsm, to respond to the demands of the hygiene market. In Albis’ SMS line in Italy, we already make products down to 10 gsm and we are aiming to produce even lower basis weights in Germany. The new 7 meter line is ideally designed for fine denier and very low basis weight bico materials.
